Why UK businesses trust Energy Tariff
We're a Glasgow-based, UK-registered business energy comparison service. Below is exactly how we work, how we're paid, and what standards we hold our content and quotes to.
Who we are
Energy Tariff is a trading name of Saving Tariff LTD, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC720890). Our registered office is 5 Alder Road, Glasgow, Scotland, G43 2UY. You can reach us on 01416 289 443 or care@energytariff.co.uk, weekdays 9-6.
What we do — and don't
We compare business gas and electricity prices from a panel of UK-licensed suppliers, help you understand the quote, and manage the switch on your behalf. We do not sell energy ourselves, we don't sign contracts without your written approval, and we don't cold-call businesses that haven't asked for a quote.
How our comparisons work
- Live supplier prices. Quotes are pulled from our supplier panel at the time you request them, using your consumption, meter type (profile class), region and contract length.
- Whole-of-panel. Where a supplier can offer a competitive contract for your business, we show it. We don't hide suppliers who pay less commission.
- Personalised, not generic. Rates depend on your postcode's Distribution Network Operator (DNO) region, standing charge structure and consumption profile — a generic online "cheapest tariff" number is rarely what a business will actually be offered.
How we're paid
When you switch through us, the supplier you choose pays us a commission that's built into the unit rate of your contract. You're told the commission element before you sign — it's shown on your Letter of Authority and contract. If you don't switch, we don't get paid. This is the standard model for regulated UK business energy brokers and it keeps our incentives aligned with yours: we only earn if we actually save you money and you actually go ahead.
Editorial standards
Guides, blog posts and industry pages are written by our in-house team and reviewed against our Editorial Policy and Content Review Policy. We cite Ofgem, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), and licensed suppliers where relevant, and we don't make claims about specific suppliers we can't back up in writing.
Data protection
We are the data controller for information you submit through our quote forms. We only share your details with suppliers you've agreed to receive a quote from, and only for the purpose of quoting or switching your contract. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Complaints & accountability
If something goes wrong, we want to hear about it. Our Complaints Procedure sets out how to raise a complaint and the timescales we work to. Unresolved disputes about a business energy contract can be escalated to the Energy Ombudsman where eligible (micro-business consumers).
Regulation
Ofgem regulates the licensed suppliers we quote from. Third-party intermediaries (energy brokers and comparison services) are covered by supplier licence conditions that require fair, transparent dealings with business customers. We follow those requirements and welcome scrutiny.
